# untitled city poem
nobody ever asked you any questions
at least none which mattered to them or you
so stride alone down open city sewers
overrun with equally common entities
each completely to and on on ir own
without peer or mystery last men
staring into the scientific sun total of all we've managed
or are seemingly capable of - streets crime hollow neon overglow
booze swill and casual murder bloody midnight madness
cheap death: all-amerikan plastic faces shining true and blank
iron stares of desperate explosive loneliness
this island earth - stranded in space lost in cosmic neglect
the space monkeys tearing out each other's hearts for truth or love
pavement never rejected the hollow echo of your cowboy boots
marching bent-backed heavy time dust over unceasing endlessness
a shadow swallowed by frozen morning light; a dirty yellow taxi passes
wind your expressionless way through tomorrow's faded remains
never once able to do anything but pause again think again
coming up empty with nothing but wrong answers unsent postcards
unspoken emotions too late to really count or care /
