# the ideology of stanley walking simulators

consider the ideology of william pugh's garme "dr. langeskov the tiger and the terribly cursed emerald: a whirlwind heist": that of a passive-aggressive freudian father figure who politely whips you to death with ir scented vidyagarm bootlaces while laughing incessantly at ir own clever joke - and all ey requires from you is - nothing since you're already completely embedded in ir hyperreal system of 'stanley-walking' simulation
the all-too convenient faustian bargain you strike with such a garme is an uncritical assumption about your own (possibly pseudo) 'free(tm) will' in a massive cultural context of industrial play; just because you're playing it doesn't mean you're not being played. to such a 'garme' you're little more than just another hollow component playing the little part pre-designated for you (despite the fact this is precisely what teh garme outwardly admits)

toxic elements for a conceptually insidious garme-sim
**+** stanley milgram virtually
**+** railroading and the illusion of "the illusion of choice"
**+** self-satisfied voiceovers from the big other
**+** the opacity of total transparency; apparently 4th-walling behind-the-scenes meta-anything
the only 4th wall that exists is the one being built in your head by such a garme. the authority behind it might be termed dark biocosmic uber-proto father-figurine uncle 'brotherman' bill. listen to ir (/warning) song from the digital void

to counter such sinister ideology and glaring emptiness: a potentially (conceptually) useful image of someone expressing a fearsome healthy non-rational distrust of such walking sims angrily wearing a cap while saying what sounds like "dota" in a heavy scottish accent
> ideology suppresses the role of language in the construction of the subject. as a result people 'recognize' (misrecognize) themselves in the ways in which ideology 'interpellates' them or in other words addresses them as subjects calls them by ir names and in turn 'recognizes' ir autonomy. as a result they 'work by themselves' they 'willingly' adopt the subject-positions necessary to ir participation in the social formation
