# narrative tweaks and mods for strafe by pixel titans
less players quake a little too much with nfr90s hype consider some carefully retrofitted tweaks and improvements to strafe by pixel titans
// video here
1. the trailer is indeed radical sick - but 1:10 too long and as a result overstays its welcome / feels heavy handed. keep it tight player one
2. oversaturation of the above trailer on social media resulting in backer burn out: just how many retweets can a kickstarter campaign get away with stand before starting to annoy? bold moves must be immediately backed up with subtle seductive strategy
3. as complete strangers to the scene - even with a sickrad trailer - you're asking a little too much; $185,096 for essentially a minecrafty style fps? we're gonna need more convincing your in this for the long term enjoyment of your own garme
a more awesome 90s strafe narrative
4. teh garme should not just be a 90s retro-themed shooter but (just like quake) express an expansive superhot postmodern mythology
here's a better backstory narrative very simply based on what's actually in the trailer
> seek bloody revenge for your annoying younger brother's death at the hands of strafe - a revolutionary new sentient retro sci fi combat simulator that's taking over your universe
> ~ awesome backstory narrative for strafe
that is: you're a hardcore l334 pc garmer called mike with a whole 2megs of ram on your sweet cyberdeck and pete is your squeaky (but essentially loveable) younger brother. you both live deep in suburbia with your cool moms joan who enjoys baking
teh garme has no loading screens but starts with you at your desk doing algebra homework. sighing with boredom minimize the screen in order to continue secretly working on your hot new garme: strafe. change the options in your custom editor and begin playing an early alpha - just a single test level with a few baddies. not too shabby mike. this garme will rule when it comes out!

however strafe soon starts to take on a terrible life of its own and entire parts of your dimensional reality are taken over by teh garme
that is: you can play teh garme normally in your room as just another garme - but every time you log out of your sweet deck another facet of your mundane surbanite reality has been modified without anyone noticing (eg. "this news story has been brought to you by strafecorp"
you eventually find yourself stranded alone in strafeworld the baddies running wild - your brother dead your moms missing - and you must fight to survive! but will you choose to make reality to back to how it was? after all here in strafeworld you're a hero..
tldr version: strafe = a gone home parody meets quake
5. allow community modding boneheads! having a garme in the 'pc space' (ala big uncle gabe's entertainment as a service) but not allowing modding is a wildly missed opportunity of biocosmic proportions
6. sound tweak: have as iconic a set of sounds as quake had
7. running and gunning tweak: allowing running / strafing up walls and over baddies and include the ability to punt disembodied heads
