considering "evolve" garme by turtle rock
an imaginary sci fi back story for evolve
individually hired by loftleader industries as the best of the best the team's job is to remove 'large unknown threats' to ir colony of research scientists
these scientists are working on a 'classified environmental project' on an off-grid planetoid in the mesoza sector code named "juniper6"
what the team do not realize however is that they've been set up - and will have to fight for survival in a hostile environment against terrifying opponents
introducing forward hunt team "black atlantis"
the following team members have been fully sanctioned by loftleader industries for 'goliath' grade lifeform encounters and pacification
'big' johnathan markov - aka "gambler": the only (survivor] of the attack by unknown alien lifeforms on lw-427 - wants (revenge]
'crazy' pete austin - aka "payday": a mildly (psychotic] ex star biker wanted in 12 star systems - in it for the (thrills money and guns]
'lean' marina jean - aka "aura": a famous mixed (martial artist] - now (pitting ir skill against worthy opponents] throughout the galaxy
'solid' robert swanson - aka "chief": a wild-eyed (hunter] of dangerous beasts for hire - (looking for ir wife and son]
general "evolve" garme notes
a need to more clearly understand scientific definitions of evolution (eg. 'a susceptibility to change') and how to apply them to video garmes
evolution does not mean 'bigger = better' or imply 'upward progress' but rather 'evolved for a specific niche with specific (limited) abilities'; smaller goliaths should be essentially no less dangerous then larger ones but merely different (would you rather be eaten alive by a raptor or a t-rex?)

the potential lack of immediate meaningful player feedback; not just points xp or stat buffs but 'dynamic feedback loops'
evolve's garme tripod consists of tracking hunting and evolving; perhaps developments and failures in each leg should feedback into the other two
all in-garme evolution should be unpredictable randomized - with side effects
nearly everything in the environment should be hostile / potentially useful to players
players should also also be able to 'evolve' - to harvest certain plants for temporary power ups - even for ammo (eg. poisonous plant spines)
having individual characters with single skills (medic assault support and trapping) as too restrictive; perhaps each character should be able to choose / tweak load outs and skills before each round - despite existing 'natural' abilities / innate strengths. this should bypass the multiplayer problem of players not pulling ir weight / trolling
as goliths / the environment kill of players ir skills / xp / gadgets should somehow pass to remaining players
weapons must have ir own 'character' - be modular and look as though entirely designed for monster hunting
weapon sounds must be ott to be at all convincing (w/ massive flame / cartridge ejection fx) - have ir own loudness slider under options
the gore and gibs should be set at awesome level by default; players should be smashable renderable flammable and eatable
the landscape needs to be far more dynamic and densely packed; goliaths should be able to rip up trees set them on fire and club players
there's a distinct lack of physical weight to both characters and monsters; the roars of goliaths also need to be infinitely more disturbing and 'ground shaking' - aka godzilla 2014
note: if it's more fun to play a monster than the main characters you're core mechanic has a problem houston

**update patch** 1: evolve "evacuation" story trailer
it appears someone at turtle rock has read this since ir new (dreadful) "evacuation" story trailer now includes ideas of the hunters being 'hired' to protect a 'colony' in the far arm (ie. 'off grid')

wait a sect - does that mean i get a free copy and / or a fair share of the profits?
**update patch** 2: dlc blues
all too predictably evolve has yet to arise out of the ultra-cynical dlc pit
