# i wonder what the zen masters of old did during a heatwave - other than sit silently in their humble mountain huts of bamboo and leaves and become the heat - wave upon reality wave without end for the 'less' enlightened however we have to sit here alone at night in our lousy overpriced rented shoebox flats and listen to dylan with the crappy plastic fan on 'four' which is max sweating and itching and hardly able to breathe such is the stifling anti-nature of modern england in all it's miserable terminal boredom and inherent limitation tried talking to someone on bluesky today about art it's someone who normally isn't able to be quiet if you know what i mean still they didn't get one reply from ten linked social media posts yet when i happen to come strolling into the middle of the conversation as it were i was both ignored and instantly blocked - not that i said anything remotely bad inappropriate or off topic but rather that the mere existence of social media is so utterly against true communication that when a stranger happens to say hello and replies thoughtfully it is viewed as an attack - almost as if by merely replaying the participant is intruding on the silence apathy ignorance and misunderstanding 'social media' implies and demands the shock of any actual communication or rather the passing possibility of it is too much for the original poster and they shut down it's like they unconsciously know the very technological communication their engaging in is at some level meant to be a form of not-speaking a type of antisocial silence and must be obeyed or else the social contract of silence apathy ignorance and misunderstanding will be broken and serious consequences follow this is where we are with 'social media'; the very (antisocial) act of communication itself nullifies obfuscates and denies meaning as usual baudrillard was right and i.t sucks more on this later for now i must try to remain cool // republic of bob
